Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Funetical Limited ("we", "us", "our") operates Funetical at funetical.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights.
Who we are
Funetical Limited is a company registered in England and Wales. You can contact us at hello@funetical.com for any privacy-related questions.
What we collect
- Email address. You provide this to sign in. We use it to send you a one-time login code and nothing else.
- Display name. You set this yourself. It is visible only to you.
- Review activity. We store which words you have studied, when, and how you rated them. This is the core data that drives your spaced-repetition schedule.
- Preferences. Settings such as daily review limits and display options.
We do not collect payment information, location data, or any data about your device beyond what your browser sends as part of a normal web request.
Why we process it
Our lawful basis is the performance of a contract: we need this data to provide the service you signed up for. Without your email address we cannot authenticate you; without your review history we cannot schedule your reviews.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to operate Funetical.
- Resend (resend.com) — receives your email address to deliver your login code.
- Fly.io — hosts the application and database. All data is stored on their infrastructure.
- Cloudflare — handles audio file delivery and, on the login page, a CAPTCHA challenge to prevent automated sign-ups. Cloudflare may process your IP address and browser information as part of this.
We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is strictly necessary for the service to work. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@funetical.com.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if anything material changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
